NSV 1697 = GSC 91-830 = 1RXS J044157.8+053641 (object 13471). TASS data confirm that this is a long period variable (NSV gives type LB), but a lot more nights are needed to see if it is a semiregular or irregular variable. Tycho gives B-V=1.11. The identification of a red variable with an X-Ray source may be unusual.

hn Greaves notified me that NSV 1697 = BD +05 706 = GSC 91-830 = 1RXS J044157.8+053641 (the third star I mentioned in my "Top-20" post) is a "cool Algol", with a period of 18.9 days. Simbad mentions a number of papers about this star, but the identification with NSV 1697 has not been given. The three nights of TASS data are not sufficient to verify the period, but apparantly some of the variation is due to spots, which makes the light curve change from season to season.
