I think what Chris was getting at is that if you used a standard
pinout for the interface cable, then you might be able to use commercially
available cables and perhaps in the future eliminate the memory card as
well. I agree that 32MB/sec is a little extreme for most PC systems to
handle without interruption, but I could imagine slowing down the clock,
using a single CCD instead of 4, and/or adding a simple FIFO to handle the
interrupts. Standard pinouts also means you can do tricks like the
optical fiber to parallel converters that currently exist for printer control.
This is a minor point IMHO, but if you haven't 'cast in stone' such
interfaces, then might be worth a little thought.
