Elliot has put some of his design on a web page for us to look at. Seems
to me he is setting us up for a good solution. Looking at what he has posted,
one can imagine why the present Mark IIIs do not focus so well, particularly
in the I. Seems like all designs with glass in the optical path will not be very
good over the full range. This argues for a special design. OK, you could get
a pretty good design with $1000 per pound glass. We shall see what Elliot
comes up with.
