correction to JD encoding

  In my previous message, I of course mistyped "RA" for "JD",
and mistyped the constant at the end.  Rats.   The correct conversion is

               real JD = [ (database JD)/1,000,000 ]  + 2,450,000

so that

     database 696720180   --->   2450696.72 =  Sep 5, 1997 UT 05:16:48

  My apologies for any confusion.  Thanks to Herb for 
pointing out my mistake.
