Sometimes doing nothing is a good solution.  There is evidence that the
images are slowly getting better on their own.  It could be that what I
need to do is to lap in the screw with some grinding compound.  Looks like
there are lots of things to try.

Lots of good images last night.  But the mount lost track of where it was
(slowly) and half the V images are looking at the roof.  Sigh!  *Just* a
software problem as I could reset the mount if I had tried.  This meant
that I lost the early morning low sky background data on the V camera.
