Hi,
I found a CD-ROM in the mail from Tom when I got home from
work today. That was at about 7:40. It is two hours later now
and I have the pictures up in ximtool. I have not have time
to look carefully at all the pictures yet as most of this time
was spent converting from Tom's format to FITS. But here is my
first impressions;
1) There are _lots_ of stars. Many more than in even a very
crowded Mk III image.
2) There are lots of image defects, but not as many as in your
typical Mk III image.
The "ice" problem is still there as is uneven field ilumination
and some charge trailing in bright to medium stars. There is also
the "backward comma" in the corners. I've read Tom's description
of this but now, having seen the images first hand, I think the
description sounds worse then the problem realy is.
I'm just looking at pictures now, I'll do something more quanitative
later. If anyone has trouble converting Tom's files to a standard
FITS format let me know. One importent info is this: The images
are 2054 x 2036 pixels.
