Mark IV Test Images
Michael,
Attached are a few Mark IV test images. Could you put them up on the web
site for all to see? Arne cannot read my attachments and complains that I
use up bandwidth to NOFS which has to carry bits up the mountain on a mule.
Description below.
Tom
--------------------------------------------------------
Here are four little test images. In all north is to the left and west is
at the top. These were taken at 22:12 locate time in Chicago, 42N, 88W.
Just in case someone wants to identify the star fields. ;^) There were
thin clouds, so the sky background is quite high. For the V images the
mean of a dark frame is -23737. For the I images -23842. Pixel scale is
roughly 7.7" per pixel. The VCO rate is still not quite right. I expect
that it accounts for several pixels of smear in the E-W direction.
Exposure was about 100 seconds. Vfield1 and Ifield1 are a pair through the
V and I filters, etc..
Looking at these images, I don't see anything left that I think is
vibration. There is a shoulder on the images that might be due to "halo"
from the cloud cover. Experts can comment. I await a really clear night
to attempt a good focus and good VCO adjustment.
