I wonder if an encoder would help? They make inexpensive
3600 step (1/10th degree) encoders that be directly attached to the
DEC axis. It might be easier to move the Dec motor while
watching the encoder then to move it open loop. With an encoder
we have the option to try again if we miss or back up if we
over shoot.
