Camera Day
The modification suggested by Graham Davies looks promising though I am yet
to see stars with it. So I am inventorying all the cameras and trying to
get them all up to data. I have 24 printed circuit boards assembled and
wired. There are 8 working cameras including 2 at NOFS. I think I have 20
Class 3 and one engineering grade chip, and 10 more class 3 chips on order.
Serial #1 sprung a leak when we put it on TOM Thursday. It used epoxy for
the water channel seal. I now have some Blue gunk that seems to work every
time. I am getting to the point where I can recognize problems
quickly. These days all cameras look pretty much alike. A good sign.
A week of work should get 20 or so working cameras. I am just waiting to
see stars to make a decision to go ahead with the Graham Davies
change. This just involves adding 470 ohms in series with the vertical
clock lines. An easy change, but it requires taking the camera apart and
removing the CCD. I no longer try to solder on the camera board with the
CCD in place. ;^(
I looks like there is a good chance that I will be able to get a couple of
chips Lumogen coated. Thus the blue lenses will not go to waste.
