Re: TASS data in aavso format

Aaron,

Just remember that there are no rules in tass. The reason that tass
measurements have not been submitted to the AAVSO is that no one has set
out to do it. I started to write "no one in tass" - but there is no one in
tass. There are no members as such as there are also no non-members. The
data is public and anyone can do with it what they want.

Now having said that, the preferred method to do things with the tass data
is to work on it in public consulting the group as you go. This gives you
a chance to receive our encouragement and wisdom as you go along. In the
end, you do what you do with the tass data as an individual. Or as a group
of individuals that collaborate. Of course, one should give a credit to
tass in any publication that uses tass data.

There are lots of things that could be done with the tenxcat. It just
takes someone to try. When it gets big enough, the professionals will move
it. So far it has not reached that critical mass.

I hope that you don't mind that I am also sending this to the tass list. I
think the concepts are of general interest.

This was prompted by a post that I made to the AAVSO list where I looked up
one of their program stars in tenxcat. Bill Dillon had asked why we were
not submitting AAVSO program star data after I had mentioned that I had a
lot of data sitting on my desk that could analyzed for such measurements.
