RE: TASS data in aavso format
OK, I will propose the following format for papers.
Alice Able, Aaron Price, ... , Zoltan Zabrinski and the TASS Collaboration.
Where Alice Able, Aaron Price, ... , Zoltan Zabrinski are the actual
workers for the content of the paper in alphabetical order. I prefer not
having a first author. But possibly astronomy is different than HEP. If
you are early in the alphabet beware of hiring anyone earlier. I did and
many of my papers had me second. ;^( He was a good guy and well worth
it. But it is a good rule and saves many hurt feelings.
I don't mind much:
Aaron Price, principal author
Alice Able, ... , Zoltan Zabrinski and the TASS Collaboration
I would also not mind:
Zoltan Zabrinski, ... Alice Able and the TASS Collaboration
On alternate papers. But the journals would probably think we were getting
too cute.
In general one should stick to the practice of the Journal.
I really prefer the "all equal" format. If you are superman, your
colleagues will know it and give you credit. It helps to make everyone
feel that they are a part of the project if all are represented
equally. All are valuable parts of any collaboration. It is when someone
thinks that they are better that collaborations fall apart.
