Re: Mark IV images of the Pleiades
As I mentioned earlier, my intent was to get a deep
image of the Pleiades with ARNE once the field fell
within the HA limit of the drive. Since I've been
out of town, it looks like the field is available to
Tom and he has started the project in a way. My skies
are darker and so the nebulae is easier to get, but
Tom should be able to get a good picture with some effort.
For a pretty picture, you want to go as deep as
possible to highlight the nebulae, but at the same
time use short exposures to reduce the bleeding as much
as possible. I'd suggest using very short exposures
(say 10-30sec) and combine lots of frames. That may
mean you use the Expose command instead of Scnsky
and sit on the field as long as possible. Be sure
to get good focus and don't try the experiment if
there is a moon in the sky.
