TASS & the AAVSO

   Now that I am able to get back on the TASS List (sigh) I would like to 
respond to a recent thread about TASS data and the AAVSO….

  Several years ago I tried to foster an “informal” collaboration be between 
the TASS effort and the AAVSO.. The AAVSO extended an ‘initiation’ for 
members of the TASS project to attend the Spring meeting of the AAVSO in 
1998…and to take a tour of the AAVSO head quarters and get an overview of 
the database there and discuss items of ‘mutual interest”…

Unfortunately no one in the TASS effort had any interest in participating in 
such an effort (either professional or amateur) . Further there was a lot of 
negativity on the mailing list (by various people) to sending data in a form 
to the AAVSO…so as a result I dropped my efforts to try and arrange some 
sort of loose collaboration…

  The end result is there probably is no point discussing the subject on the 
list …given the prevailing attitudes of folks involved with the current  
effort……
