RE: RTLinux

The Linux based TASS Mk III control software uses
"RT Linux". I've had it running for months, maybe
years now. It's best points are 1) very easy to
learn/use/install (If you already know Linux.)
2) It works. Very good real-time control down at
the micro second level. 3) Zero cost. 4) good
support e-mail list. 5) You get buy commercial
support if you want it. I'd recommend it for cases
where "micro seconds mater."

That said, I don't think the Mk IV system requires
that level of real-time control. Unless we are
going to generate pulses for motors, just plain Linux
will work good enough. The mark III required software
to clock the CCD. With the Mk IV you just need to
send data over a serial line which it seems any OS
other then the one Tom has would work.
