Thanks to Jure for many answers.   Jure, 2) got lost as I found all the 
variations of 1).

As to UT.  What do I do about date when the date is different?  Is the date 
used the local date or the date at Greenwich, England?  I am happy if you 
tell me to use the date at Greenwich, but it somehow offends me to use a 
mixed local date with Greenwich time.

Could someone tell me the Julian Date so I can check the 
calculation.  Hmmmm! I looked on my expensive S&T Calendar, but it is not 
there.  Beautiful pictures, not facts.

I am still trying to get at the RA where my telescope is pointing.  I have 
a formula provided by Doug, but it requires the input of the number of days 
since Jan 0.0 2001.  There must be a worked out algorithm for this so that 
I don't have to go through the step by step process of counting days in 
months and worrying about leap year (and making mistakes in the process).
