Re: Good public FTP site (and test of Windows time code)
John McKendry copied two files, a README and a Windows .exe,
into the "incoming" directory of the TASS FTP site. As he
mentions, he couldn't see the files after he deposited them.
That's a security feature.
I've moved the files into the main FTP site, in the "pub"
directory, and made them world-readable. So, people who want
to try out John's program can pick it up at
ftp://a188-L009.rit.edu/pub/
That's the way I run the FTP site: anyone can place items there,
but in order for others to use them, I need to be notified.
After my machine was hacked once, I decided to implement these
somewhat inconvenient security measures.
