RE: Mark IV Control Quesion

I have a Mk IV (sans mechanical parts and CCD) at home.

There are two ways I know of the run Tom's software under
Linux. The dos emulator can be made to work. This is OK.
Also you can use VMWare. VMWare can run DOS under Linux
and also Windows/95/98/me/nt/2k under Linux too. VMWare
is a bit more robust than dosemu but harder to set up and
it not free except for the 30 day eval period.

With any of the above DOS and Linux can share the same file
system so they both "see" the data at the same time.

If you have a "real" Win 98 system (not running under Linux)
you can move data by using one box as a "file server". Either
mount a Winows "share" onto the Linux box (see man smbmount)
or use Samba to export a disk from Linux to the Windows system.
If all else fails you can use FTP to move the files.

All that said, dosemu was the quickest to get going. Actually
I used "xdos" so I could export the display. My control
computer which ran Tom's QBASIC is in the attic and I wanted
the display downstairs. So I just send the X11 display to my
downstairs computer. I suspect this is the best way to go
for you too.

One more way to move data that I've not tried: Tom uses CFITSIO
now. Try naming the file with a full URL like
ftp://MYSERVER/data/xxx.fits This may work.
