Re: file name



First, as to the extention.

It is a convention that has been around for at least 40 years. Only
a very few systems have ignored it. Plus, most every existing astro
package has coded in the expectation that FITS files will have the
extention of 'fit' or 'fits'.

As to the naming, the one real missing point is the lack of the
original name in the header, and possibly also a header identifying it
as TASS data. If the first was there, any problems with manes can be
fixed with ease. Adding a TASS project header will make someones life
much easier if it is added into another data archive.
