I think he does do CGI now.  What he doesn't currently allow is other
people to have user accounts on his machine.  I don't blame him one
bit.  It's his desk top computer I don't think I'd want a guzzillion
people running some disk bashing database search on my machine while I
was trying to do something either.  IMO the solution is a second
computer configured as a "playground" where stuff can be done without
a chance of interfering with "real" work.  Looks like that's what
you are doing.

We will need a bunch of libraries for people to build with.  If you can
set me up with an account I'll stick these in my account.

If would be nice if there were a user called say "tass" that this kind of
common stuff could be placed under.  various data reduction pipelines
could be installed there too.  

An IRAF install would be nice too.  Under username "iraf".  I could do that
if need be if you make the "iraf" user account.
