Ah, so the real problem is that you cannot visually tell
the difference between RA settings using the 'focus plate' type
of frame, and have no interactive tool to give you the fwhm.
That is why I was suggesting that an interactive cursor-oriented statistics
command would be more useful than finding fwhm of all stars in
a subframe. Finding the median fwhm of all stars would not tell you the
difference between each of the VCO settings, for example.
Rob can kludge together something I am sure. Other solutions:
run qbasic under dosemu on Linux and then run iraf simultaneously.
Buy AIP4WIN ($70), MaxImDL, MIRA for windows; they all have fwhm
calculators. I bet Michael has PCVISTA running under windows also.
Final option: put some fire under Chris and Arne and Michael to
get the Linux software working. Personally, I like the last option
the best. :-)
