correct bias usage and using "Search the TASS Site"
Two questions:
1. I'm modifying my dark/flat/composit image creation software to use the
bias frame, and want to make sure I do this correctly. Currently, I create
a median dark frame (take the median value of all dark's selected), then,
for creating the flat, I take the mean of dark column 3, find the mean of
column 3 of each image select for the flat field, calculate the dark
adjusted (x,y - (dark x,y + (col 3 mean - dark col 3 mean) mean value of a
central box of each image, then take the median value of (x,y - (dark x,y +
col 3 mean) * (min central mean / box mean)) for the pixel value. To make
this short (too late), I think I subtract the bias from every (dark, object)
frame before using them. Would this be correct? Darks would be median of
(dark - bias), flats would be as above, except for subtracting bias from the
object x,y, and then composit processing would be mean flat * ((object x,y -
bias x,y) - dark x,y) / flat x,y rather than mean flat * (object x,y - dark
x,y) / flat x,y
Which leads to the second question (as I tried to find this by searching the
tass site).
2. When searching, I never seem to get hits after 1997. Am I doing
something wrong?
Thanks,
Rob
