You dont need the power or intensity of a QI lamp, and if you
want it to be stable and reliable, you run the globe at well under
its normal voltage. This is a real no-no with QIs! A normal
tungsten bulb is fine for this job.

Another reason not to use a Xe flash or arc globe is that
like the 'white' LEDs, the output is a 'line forrest' rather
than a continuous spectra.
