I still think the processing of the raw data is best done at the
observing site. Data can be processed at a rate comparable to or faster
than the rate at which they are obtained. Munching on the reduced data
could be something that a distributed model would be well-suited to.
Being an eclipsing binary person, an example I can think of would be
the analysis of eclipsing binary light curves we obtain. I'm working on
a genetic-algorithm optimizer for eb light curves and that definitely
would be something that a distributed approach would be good for.
