RE: Waiting for a good Control Program
Once you have a CVS system you want to make a rule (the 11th
commandment actually) like "Thou shall't not check in un-tested
code." It must at least pass some minimal checks. We need a
way for people without their own Mk IV to make at least these
minimal checks.
Us coders tend to work at 1:00am and would like to be
able to run trough a checkout/code/test/checkin cycle in under
an hour, preferaly in minutes. using e-mail maens you wait
on someone else to do the testing for you. All we need is for a
test machine to be available on-line. Using it is not a 100%
solution as you can only do a basic sanity test but it will prevent
us from checking in very badly broken, untested code to CVS.
