  If one sets "do_thumbnail" in the "markiv_driver.param" file,
and one is running under X Windows, then a small subsection of the
center of each image (a thumbnail) will be displayed on the screen.
The idea is to give the user a quick visual look at the images
for the entire night.

  It's not useful very often.
