Re: New Guy (and new var?)

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm on my way!

I think I have a candidate. The only thing I couldn't figure out how to
check was if it is a "very" red star or not. The star is 124 in sequence
47318 in the collected.big file on the data set 23 cd. It's at RA=103.56
DEC=7.94. It has a Welch-Stetson value of 10.8. There are no objects in the
GCVS or the NSV catalogs at this location and no matching objects in SIMBAD.
There is an object on the USNO archive that seems to match up. It brightens
by 0.2 mag in 2.25 hours. The star is about 0.7 mag brighter in I than in V.

I have a plot and data here:

http://www.lolife.com/124/

I took a stab at estimating a period by joining the data from two different
sets of observations into a smooth line. My logic here might be suspect. I
added a trend line to try to estimate what the object might be doing. I
can't get out and observe it because of that bright star 1 AU from here.

Thanks!
