Re: HD 193649 Question
Rich Knowles asks about this star. Going to SIMBAD, one finds that
it is known by many names:
HD 193649 AG+08 2763 BD+08 4408
BDS 10130 A CCDM J20211+0837A CSI+08 4408 1
GSC 01074-00408 IDS 20163+0818 A PPM 169847
SAO 125707 TYC 1074 408 1 YZ 8 10000
Each of these is an entry into a stellar catalog of some kind.
The "TYC" entry is for "Tycho catalog", based on observations
made by the Hipparcos satellite. If you check the entry for
this star in the Tycho catalog (which SIMBAD will do for you),
you'll find information on the duplicity, proper motion, and
probably find a parallax, too.
The "HD" itself means that the star had a spectrum measured by
astronomers at Harvard long ago, as part of the Henry Draper
project. SIMBAD's main entry on the star gives its spectral
type as A5.
You might try looking for published material on the star
by going to the Astrophyics Data System (ADS)
http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abstract_service.html
and searching under "Object name search". However, if no
references show up in SIMBAD, there are probably no papers;
I think that SIMBAD links to ADS.
There are a lot of stars, and we know little about most
of them :-( You may have found one that just hasn't
attracted much interest yet.
