New Data Sets Coming Soon
I was finally able to reduce data from a set of exposures taken where some
stars appear in 36 different positions in the field in a 6 x 6 position array.
As might have been expected, there is an obvious pattern. The stars are
fainter in the middle of the field. This indicates that we over compensate
in the flat field operation, I think. I will await experts to look at the
data. The variation is about .2 mag.
There are two data sets available, each with 36 exposures and which include
darks and a flat made with different data. So you can use the image to
create the flat or use the flat on the disk.
Due to an initialization problem, there are only 35 good images. I will
try to get data which corrects this, but winter is here (light snow is
falling now), and there may be no more good data.
If you want this data, ask for set 1, set 2 or both. I am glad to give you
both, but some of you might just want to look. In fact, I hope to get a
few more sets before actually sending out this data. Some of you will get
more than you ask for.
Ask in the usual way, including your name and address. It does save me
some time. I do not keep a standard address book on my computer. That way
villains cannot use it to bother my friends.
