Data Last Night
Just as I gave up, I was able to get some 7 x 7 data last night. I got 4
complete and one partial at 60 second exposure. Each set covers 8 x 8
degrees with 2/3 x 2/3 degree covered 49 times. Thus one should be able to
get a 7 x 7 correction array.
I looked at one image and it contained 5000 stars. This means that there
should be 100 or so stars that appear in each position in the image if we
are lucky. OK, somewhat less after dim stars that fail to show on both
images.
One image set contains the Orion belt stars in the lower left corner. If
someone out there likes to make pretty pictures, one could stitch together
the 49 images and make an 8 x 8 degree false color "pretty picture". If
someone wants to try this ask for Orion - DS - 24.
As I noted before, I have so far found the same number of meteors on this
set than I got while running during the Leonides. I have only looked at
about 10% of the images.
I am very pleased with this data. The stars are pretty round, and the
telescope is pointing where I want it to, and ...
