Busy Taking Data
There has been an unusual string of clear nights for November. I have TOM1
running and am taking lots of data. Last night I ran for over 12
hours. This morning I got up at 7 AM or so and wrote the data to
disks. Then I started the pipeline at 9 AM or so and went back to bed. It
is still running at 5 PM. So at 5 PM I am starting another run. OK,
eventually I will cut out the middle man of writing to CDs. But not yet.
I have been running a 4 degree grid. Last night covered about 20 by 180
degrees of sky. 3600 square degrees and 300 thousand or so stars. I now
have 7 nights with data since the end of November when I started these
runs. Looks like I may get a few more before the weather gives out. I
think there were 750,000 measurements at last count.
The present data run covers -6 to +14 degrees in declination and RA from
about 330 to 180 so far. If anyone has particular interest in stars in
this area, I can dig out data. I guess I have a few more measurements of
HD932 which I can contribute when needed.
