Dump a Directory to CD?

Someone may know how to do this easily in linux.

I want to dump a directory that contains more than one cd can hold to 
cds.  It would be nice if the program did something to wake me up when it 
had filled one cd, like eject the last one or beep.  It should then be 
relatively easy to get one or all the files back into a directory.  I.e. I 
would prefer if the directory structure on the disks was standard.  No need 
to compress as this would not save much.
