Re: "Research"
Mike,
OK here is what I think he wants. If someone looks at the data for a
particular star and discovers it is RA Vir or some such, then it would be
nice if he could tell the data base. Also it might be nice if John can put
an entry in the data base that says this star is an EA and not worth
looking at further or some such. Possibly there should be room for
extendable comments. Every one that looks might want to add a
comment. See ApJ 288 345-348 or some such comment. Just my 2 cents not
knowing anything.
Of course even nicer would be for the data base to look at all the stars in
the GCVS and tag the entries that are GCVS stars. Since the positions of
the GCVS may vary from our positions, then you need an entry that says
something like "this star is near WG Sc and migh be it" Our positions are
probably better than many of the listed positions of the known
variables. Something that read through our data and compared it to the
GCVS might do a great service by updating the positions of stars in the
GCVS. On the other hand this might be a very presumptions thing for me to
say, but I have just been reading the comments by experts who say this or
that variable is out of position.
