A great deal has been written about the effects of spider diffraction!

Right after the Great Northeastern Blackout of 2003, I was checking
the border-crossing traffic at the Peace Bridge webcam (to be found
at http://www.peacebridge.com/webcam.php) A spider was hanging
ominously in the sky a small distance from the lens and moving
periodically - it was quite an effect!
