The I Focus and other Puzzles

As you all know, the I focus has always been a problem. Over the weekend,
I discovered that I had not added the focus stiffeners to TOM2 and TOM3.
When we added them, some of the cameras became hard to focus. It turns out
that the focus stiffener can force a tilt in the camera. When the tilt is
removed (it is now possible with the stiffener in place) then the focus
becomes possible, and the I focus starts looking as good as the V focus.
The I focus has been pretty good on TOM1 for some time now since the
addition of the stiffeners.

Michael R., this might be the cause of the problem seen in the V camera in
TN-97.

As time goes on, I will work on this adjustment. This is a good project
for bright moon and cloud time. I takes some fussing since every time that
the tilt is adjusted, one must spend a few hours to find the focus again.
Now that the focus stiffeners are in place, I could have a better focus
strategy, but this need a night of code writing and testing.

Slowly the cameras get adjusted better and better and this helps the data.
