New Variable List




Here is yet another list of possible variables.  This is from the TOM2 data
and includes August and most of September which are not yet in the data
base.

I am still playing with the selection process.  This list is the result of
a somewhat relaxed selection.  This in an effort to get more of the long
period variables which my last scheme was rejecting.  The result is about a
10% content of stars that are probably just noise.  

The scan produced 977 hits.  The list was then processed through VizieR
using the GCVS and NSV lists.  The result was 245 stars on the lists.  
Most of these were on the GCVS list.  For anyone that wants to get further
material on these stars refer to the list dated 030929 and I will probably
be able to find it.  I am just doing this for fun so I am not doing log
books or other standard scientific procedure.  Further discussion depends
on me being able to find a data disk on my desk.  I consider the main data
list to be the primary product of this work and I am taking care that it is
preserved and properly documented. 

I have saved data point files and .png plot files for each of these stars. 
I have also saved the condensed list of all the stars included (one line
per star  all.t) in the run.  The full data list is too large to fit on a
CD being about 1.5 GByte.  I have also saved the VizieR output so you all
can compare my result.  

OK, I suspect some of you are getting fatigued with new variables to
examine.  Soon we will have to think about how to do this properly.  I
think this is a few months away.  For the time being I will have fun.  I
hope the rest of you can also have fun.  Michael K., there are plenty of
short period variables at almost any place in the sky in this list.  I
think that you all can find an exotic star or two to observe if you try. 
You don't have to just look at EAs.
