Two little remarks:

- verify that all your cards are running at 100 MHz

- if you have a hub and not a switch, than any 10 MHz connection will bring 
  all to that speed.

In principle, a good switch will adapt itself to the individual speed of each
connection. But they do "store and forward" for at least part of the
messages. So if you cascade many small switches, you increase the latency
each time your messages go through another "store and forward"... Better 
have a single bigger switch than many small ones, as Chris says.
