The spoofing problem is in the process of being resolved. For those
who have control over their own domains, I would suggest that they
implement the "Sender Policy Framework" for their domains. This
involves a small adjustment to your DNS records (took me about 15
minutes to read the doc and do the updates on my system).

Some of the major ISPs like Hotmail and AOL are, I believe, going
to adopt SPF controls this fall (i.e. will not accept mail without
valid SPF records) so the spoofing problem should hopefully diminish.
