Again Lost Mail

I have again lost my entire mail archive.  Those who I am supposed to send 
disks should send me a message with their address.  Sigh!  I guess you are 
supposed to back up your entire system??  I don't really want to back up very 
much.  I certainly don't want to back up zillions of bytes of image files. 

All winds do not blow evil.  As a result of this Jennifer is now happily 
reading mail on a linux system using KMail.  This is the first step in 
getting the Droege household converted over completely to linux. 

I want to learn to back up the mail system.  I have looked and I find the mail 
box folders under .Mail  When I look in these, they seem only to have long 
index strings for each message.  How do I back up mail?

Last night was the first night this month that  I did not take data.  But no 
rest for the wicked, my night was spent  rescuing Issue 66 of the Flying 
Lady, or I would have  been killed.
