about 43ms would be closer to what's expected.  43 seconds would be about
tops for a loaded machine.    but all bets are off if they're also offering
spam filtering.  sometimes these services ship the mail around the internet
and even on a local machine the processing times could approach 43 minutes
if the machine is heavily loaded and the scripts aren't effecient.   while
a single datum of 43 minutes is alarming, if experience show that the
average delay is more than 4.3 minutes, then it would be necessary to
look for another service.  alas, not all services are equal.
