CD Problem Solved
As you all know, I have been having a terrible time writing CDs. They neither
read or write properly on my new Combo drives. I finally tried writing a
DVD. Perfect results. So I think I will abandon CD writing in favor of
DVDs. I had hoped that CDs would be a more reliable archive media, but if
they can't be written then they are a lousy archive. Besides, I can write
and verify DVDs more efficiently since I can go off and do something else for
the half hour or so it takes to write one camera's worth of data to DVD.
Sigh! Again Droege is dragged kicking and screaming into the next century.
OK, here is my new procedure. When a run completes processing, I will move
the images to mike and write the DVDs from there. This means that "mike"
will always have the latest up to date image data. I will also write
the .cal files to mike, so those of you with access can come and sit on mike
and do whatever processing you would like. In general new data will be on
mike about 3PM after a night's run.
So no more mailing out CDs. Yeah!
