My preference is to operate in the open.  This work should be done with public 
domain software or software written for the purpose under the gnu license.   
I am willing to have the ownership stay with the competitor if they can get 
commercial gain from it, but it has to be viewable.  If the algorithm is not 
revealed, then it will be hard to test that the improvement is real.

My preference is to have the source code so that small adjustments and 
improvements can be made.

Sorry, this project is to improve the data that has already been taken.  The 
bias, darks, and flats do not exist for most of the data.  This was discussed 
extensively two years ago.  We now have to live with the conclusions at that 
time.  It is like living with the Hubble telescope as it was in space.  This 
is a "do the best you can" project.

Note that the competitor does not have to process all the data, only show that 
the method works.  I am going to have to do that, and I am running linux.
