Logging into mike

Mike has been up continuously for about the last week.  A week or so ago
it was reloaded to rescue two new hard drives that we not visible with the
previous version of Mandrake linux.

I would appreciate it if someone would try to log into mike and tell me
what needs to be done at this end.

I don't know how to check it from this end since efforst to log in are
intercepted locally.  I think I need a little educational help.
