Plans for future runs
Since I now have Rob's nice software that give me control over everything
I need, I can now be more sophisticated than I was in the engineering
running where I did everthing by hand.
I can now determine sunrise, sunset and the like. This allows planning
the night's run ahead of time and automating darks and flats and the like.
The plan is to spend most of each night in tracking mode collecting the
kind of data that is useful to short period observations. I can only
track for 2-4 hours (depends on the telescope and trees). I will measure
the available dark time, and determine how many full tracking runs I can
get in. These runs will be made tracking a small number of frames in
declination. Someone might suggest the closest spacing in time that is
useful. After these runs are done, the remaining time to dawn will be
spent scanning the full sky in the present mode. This data will then
cover the very long period stars.
Since I am starting to write these scripts now, any suggestions would be
appreciated.
