Re: It's Never Easy
Hi Tom,
I don't know how much worth it would be to you, but you should be able to
get hold of old server or the old chunky XT desktop cases second hand for next
to nothing, then it would just be a matter getting the motherboard to fit......
I suppose you then end up with the problem of butchering the case to get the
motherboard to play, and maybe having to change the power supply. I use a
couple of old compaq server cases to hold relitvely new motherboards, and they
do a far better job than any new off the shelf case could. I suppose it
depends on what is available in your area. Maybe time to sweet talk the IT
guys at your old work if they are replacing any old gear.......

After a long struggle and
with a lot of help from Rob Creager I got his
software installed on a new
system. This is to be the prototype of
systems for tom1 to
tom5.
I went to plug in the ISA memory card. The chassis has been
built to
block any possible insertion of a full sized ISA board. So not
only do I
have to find motherboards with ISA slots (not easy these days) but
cases
that can be chopped to give space for a big ISA card. Sigh!
It never
ends.
However, I have a milling machine and a band saw.
These will solve the
problem.
But it will end, and soon I think.
Then we will have 5 systems taking
lots of data.
Now that I am taking
data with fixed tiles, there is indication that
quality of the sky makes a
difference. You all told me that it should,
but I could not see it before since the error with position overshadowed
the error due to a bad
night. So I will be able to set parameters to
choose the best
data. Looks like 5 systems will take less data than 3
systems but it
will be better quality.
