New Data
I have been looking at the new data and at first it was a surprise. A
short sample is attached of a new .cal file as sample.dat.
What is seen is that most of the stars seem to appear only in V or I. I
expected that there would be a lot more I stars and that most V stars
would have I measurements.
It now seems to me that since most measurements are of faint stars, if a
star is just detectable in one band then it is not so likely to be
detected in the other. At least that is what I see. Lots of unpaired
measurements. This will mean that we will take a lot more data per night.
With 5 telescopes due to run and roughly twice the data as last year, we
will produce measurements at 3x or so the rate of last year. With the
tile scheme, they will be much better relative measurements.
There have also been many minor improvements. The focus is much better in
the I cameras when I work on it.
All in all, I have hopes for a great year of data.
